PSG vs Manchester City – Match Preview

It’s Qatar vs Abu Dhabi in the battle of the Middle East owners as PSG play host to Manchester City. Both now perceived as “Superclubs” due to their financial wealth they will both bid to move one step closer to winning their first Champions League trophy and truly joining Europe’s elite.

With PSG wrapping up Ligue 1 already at a canter this will be the first real test for the French side since they disposed of Chelsea in the previous round. PSG won both legs 2-1 as they served Guus Hiddink his first two defeats since returning as Chelsea boss and looked a class above the English Champions

They warmed up for Tonight’s match with a comfortable 4-1 win over Nice on Saturday, Zlatan Ibrahimovic was among the goals as he scored an exocet missile of a free kick at the Stade De France. It was reported that City are the only Premier League club not interested in signing him next season, he will be looking to show them what they could be missing out on Tonight.

City themselves had a comfortable win on Saturday as they returned to winning ways with a win over Bournemouth at The Vitality Stadium. They were boosted by the return of Kevin De Bruyne as they strolled to a 4-0 win

He got on the scoresheet and finished a well worked move to score the pick of the goals on Saturday, his return from injury couldn’t have come at a better time as they look to make sure they are playing in this competition next season when Pep Guardiola takes over the Manchester City helm.

They looked impressive in their win over Dynamo Kiev in the last round but this is going to be a much bigger test for Manchester City and Manuel Pellegrini. This is the first time that City have reached the Quarter Final stage and they won’t their European exploits to end just yet.

PSG will go into the game as slight favourites especially as City still have question marks hanging over their Centre Back pairings so Laurent Blanc will be planning for his attacking unit to exploit that potential weakness.

I’ll go for a PSG win but if City can snatch an away goal then it will leave the tie wide open and they may just be able to turn the deficit around at The Etihad. I’ll go with a PSG win but with the tie still in the balance for the 2nd leg.
