Middlesbrough vs Everton – Match Preview

Roberto Martinez will give James McCarthy (groin) and Gareth Barry (shin) late fitness checks ahead of the League Cup quarter-final against Middlesbrough.

The Toffees boss also confirmed keeper Joel Robles will start in goal.

Aitor Karanka has a full-strength Boro squad to choose from after their 2-0 win over Huddersfield on Saturday.

Striker Cristhian Stuani could make his first start since he recovered from an injury sustained on international duty.

Editor’s Note: Everton threw away a 2-0 and then 3-2 lead against Bournemouth on Saturday in dramatic fashion, they’ll be looking to put the disappointment of two points dropped behind up by progressing into the Semi-Finals of the Capital One Cup by beating Middlesbrough.

Only it won’t be an easy prospect with them being away from home and facing a Middlesbrough side that are flying high in The Championship. Roberto Martinez will perhaps use this opportunity to rotate the squad while compatriot Aitor Karanka has a full squad to choose from.

I have a feeling this one could go to Extra Time after that then it’s anybody’s guess, I have a slight feeling Middlesbrough could nick this and continue their giant killing run to the Semi’s.
