- Well the run has ended and what a terrible way for it to happen
- Newcastle come from behind to end Tottenham’s 14 game league unbeaten streak
- Steve McClaren gets his substitutions spot on as goals from Mitrovic and Perez see Newcastle climb out of the bottom three and get their second win in a row
- We lacked cutting edge this afternoon with Harry Kane drawing another blank, that’s no goal in 3 matches now for the England International
- I think he certainly is going to need a helping hand in January as he can’t carry the goalscoring burden all on his own
- Definitely missed Mousa Dembele’s energy in the middle of the park, Tom Carroll unfortunately wasn’t a suitable deputy
- Every chance we get of moving into the Top 4 we seem to spurn, I was going to state that we are turning into draw specialists but I’ve had to rejig my notes thanks to Newcastle’s last minute winner
- It all started off quite well, going in front through Eric Dier’s goal we dominated the first half
- But for all the while it was 1-0 then Newcastle were still in the game and our failure to kill off the game has come back to haunt us but credit must go to Rob Elliott who managed to keep us at bay
- That’s now 2 points from the last 3 matches and we’ve been pegged back from winning positions in the last 2
- Newcastle finished the stronger side and it showed with their determination until the end and they got their just rewards with Ayose Perez’s winner. They could have scored just a minute before had Mitrovic timed his run better
- It’s certainly not the end of the world as let’s get a sense of perspective, it is our first league defeat in 15 games but we need to grasp the opportunities that are given us when it comes to making that extra step and reaching the Top 4
- If Leicester win Tomorrow we are already 9 points behind them, that’s becoming quite the gap
- But no point dwelling on it, we just have to dust ourselves off and bounce back with a win at Southampton next Saturday. But a win it really does have to be. COYS
