Tuesday Transfer Round Up

Michael McGovern has been rewarded for his Euro 2016 heroics after completing a move to Norwich City Today. The Northern Irish Goalkeeper impressed throughout his side participation in the competition and attracted the attention of quite a few clubs both North and South of the border. It was his performance again Germany in the group stages that really grabbed people’s attention as his string of saves meant that Michael O’Neill’s side came away with a respectable 1-0 defeat.

His previous club Hamilton Academical had offered him a new contract but he has decided to try his luck down south and team up with former Hamilton manager Alex Neil at Carrow Road. Scottish giants Rangers were also reported to be chasing his signature but McGovern has opted for life in The Championship next season as The Canaries look to bounce back after relegation last season.

Burnley have been busy today after announcing a brace of signings and have also picked up a Euro 2016 star of their own that being Johan Berg Gudmundsson. Gudmundsson was part of the Charlton Athletic side which was relegated from The Championship last season but more importantly was part of the lineup that beat England on that historic night in Nice. He has joined by former Charlton teammate Nick Pope, Pope like Gudmundsson joins on a 3 year deal and will now act as backup to Burnley’s No.1 Keeper Tom Heaton

While in Wales defender Jazz Richards has signed for Cardiff City from Fulham on a three-year deal, with Bluebirds left-back Scott Malone moving the other way.

Malone, 25, played 42 times for Cardiff last season and has signed a two-year contract with Fulham. Richards, 25, was part of Wales’ squad at Euro 2016, making one substitute appearance, with new Cardiff boss Paul Trollope on the national coaching team. Trollope also announced Yesterday that he would be leaving his role with The FAW so that he can concentrate solely on club duties and try to return Cardiff to the Premier League after relegation in 2014.
