Sunderland vs Leicester a few quick thoughts

- Leicester grabbed another all important win in the race for this season’s Premier League title
- That win gave them momentarily a 10 point gap and threw the gauntlet down to Tottenham with the North London side set to play just minutes later
- Claudio Ranieri’s side bucked the usual trend of winning 1-0 and came away from The Stadium Of Light with a 2-0 win against struggling Sunderland
- Not only was the win all important in terms of the title race but it means that Leicester will definitely be participating in next season Champions League, an astonishing feat in itself
- Jamie Vardy has found his scoring boots at just the right time as his brace was the difference in what at times was a nervy encounter for The Foxes
- His first came in the 66th minute to ease the nerves of Manager, Players and fans alike. Danny Drinkwater inch perfect long ball found Vardy in plenty of time and space as he then slotted home to put his side 1-0 up
- Sunderland were looking to try and close the gap on Norwich after their defeat the day before but again they offered very little goal threat
- They should have come away with a point when Jack Rodwell was presented with a golden chance on 82 minutes. From 3 yards out the England International fired over the bar when it seemed easier to score
- That miss just summed up Sunderland’s season, a lack of goals and a failure to take chances are going to be most likely the cause for their downfall
- Jamie Vardy punished Sunderland’s profligacy as he tucked home a second in the 95th minute to assure the win and also get him back in the race for the Golden Boot against Harry Kane. It’s now sits at 22 to 21 in favour of Kane
- Leicester are now only 3 wins away from a fairytale Premier League season, the only hope for Spurs is that in comparison it’s Leicester that have the harder run in. We’re now in the final furlong are Leicester going to fall at the last
- As for Sunderland they travel to Norwich on Saturday Lunchtime for a massive relegation 6 pointer. If they lose that then they will be undoubtedly staring relegation in the face.
