Real Football Data – A Case For The Premier League Defence

A Case For The Premier League Defence

And now time for the second of the two analysis pieces that I am offering up from my sister website Real Football Data this morning, this time around we look at the defence of each Premier League team and more importantly just how many shots they can absorb before scoring.

You may be aware that I am currently carrying out a project on my other website where I look at just how efficient a team is in front of goal, in it’s most basic form this means how many shots a team has before scoring a goal. But now it is time to flip that upside down and look at it from a different direction.

Here we can analyse just how much a team can withstand or if your name is David De Gea simply how much one player can withstand. I won’t give too much away without you clicking the link but his sensational performance against Arsenal last weekend has certainly given us some food for thought.

Not only that but we can also identify just which teams are being let down by dodgy defending, it’s all very well scoring lots or being efficient but if you are leaking goals at the other end then ultimately all you hard work is going to be undone.

This can of data will be available on a semi regular basis as the focus is more on the goal efficiency than shot absorbing but at the same time it shall still make for some interesting reading.

I hope this was of interest to you and if you would like to discuss any potential work ideas with me then please feel free to email me at realfootballmanwordpress@gmail.com as I am always looking to undertake additional projects to the ones I already have. Thanks, Dan.
