Knowing Me, Knowing You. Zaha

In a week where Crystal Palace fans have had to make do with seeing their manager resign in somewhat shock circumstances there is at least a modicum of good news as Wilfried Zaha has committed his long term future to the club.

That comes in the form of signing a new 5 year deal with the South London club and not only does it show that Zaha is going nowhere but it also brings to an end any chance that Tottenham may have had in trying to acquire his services in this summers transfer window.

The Ivorian scored 7 goals in 35 appearances this season and his late season form was instrumental in making sure that Crystal Palace avoided the drop and it was that impressive form that had Mauricio Pochettino reportedly sniffing around the former Manchester United player.

If you were a betting man then the smart money would have been on Zaha stepping up a level and moving to the Premier League runners up but that was a bet that obviously would have not come in. That said if you fancy another flutter this weekend then here are some free bet tips

Zaha has been at Selhurst Park since the age of 8 (bar that ill fated stint at Old Trafford) so it was perhaps not the most difficult decision that the 24 year old has had to make in regards to signing a new contract at Selhurst Park, a decision that will certainly go down well with Palace fans.

They are only a couple of signings away from being a top half club especially with the way the Premier League table finished up this season. Just 6 points separated 8th to 17th place in the final table and just an additional bit of quality would have seen Palace in the top half.

There may not be any new faces at the club just yet but this first bit of business will be arguably the most important, the next task is trying to fill the void left by Sam Allardyce. Those will be big shoes to fill both figuratively and literally as the club will look to kick on from this campaign and not be caught up in another relegation battle.

They like many others will be looking to acquire the services of now former Hull City boss Marco Silva but with the 39 year old in hot demand they may have to move quickly, another target could well be Walter Mazzarri but again the same parameters apply as he certainly will not be out of work for long.

Palace have a big decision to make and one they need to act fast on, whoever that new man is will at least have the benefits of the clubs star man Wilfried Zaha staying around to help the Eagles soar towards the top half of the Premier League.
