Manchester United’s preparations for this match have been rocked by the news that Wayne Rooney will be out for at least 6 weeks due to a knee injury which was sustained in Saturday’s defeat to Sunderland.
Not only does injury to Rooney scupper Louis Van Gaal’s plans for this evening it also lessens their already faint hopes of a Top 4 place and a return to the Champions League. Van Gaal said that their main hope of qualification for next season’s edition of the tournament was by winning the Europa League a feat that is now going to be a lot more difficult.
United were back to the ordinary on Saturday Lunchtime and it’s now 1 win in 4 for the red half of Manchester. They were second best to pretty much to everything at The Stadium Of Light and they can’t afford a repeat of that Tonight.
It will be interesting to see how many changes Van Gaal makes with him saying on Wednesday he has 13 players injured, including full-backs Matteo Darmian and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson. Therefore expecting some players from the Under 21 side to fill out the bench and gain some match day experience.
United go up against a FC Midtjylland side who have already faced English opposition in the Europa League this season in the form of Southampton, knocking out the South Coast side in the process. The Danish Champions are owned by Betting Stats Guru and Brentford Owner Matthew Bentham who will no doubt be hoping for a second English scalp over the course of the two legs.
Pre Rooney’s injury the main focus was on the ticket prices for this match with United fans having to pay an eye-watering £71 to watch the game. Talk about getting fleeced, it seems as if the Danes are definitely cashing in on the magnitude of this tie.
United will no doubt miss Wayne Rooney then again you could even make the case that they might be better off without him, I’ll guess we’ll find out which of the two statements is true Tonight. I’ll put my money on an United win but I’d rather leave my money in my pocket to be honest. Should be an away win.
