Champions League Third Qualifying Round Goals

5 games took place in the Champions League Third Qualifying Round League Route and here is the pick of all the action and by action I mean goals

Nice vs Ajax

Mario Balotelli was the man of the match without question but he could not alone put Ajax to the sword as the French side had to make do with just a draw after spending large portions of the first half on top. After the former Manchester City forward gave Nice the lead just after the half hour after neat wing play from Jean Seri their efforts were undone soon after the restart when keeper Yoan Cardinale made a mess of a speculative Ajax cross, the ball then fell at the feet of Donny Van De Beek and his well measured shot put Ajax level.

That is how it would end after both teams failed to find the third goal of the encounter and it is now very evenly poised as we go into next week’s return fixture

Club Brugge vs Istanbul Basaksehir

Easily the pick of the bunch as Belgian’s Club Brugge took on Turkish competition debutants Istanbul Basaksehir. What more can you ask for really than a 6 goal thriller, Club Brugge will arguably be not best pleased though as they gave away a 2-0 lead and now have to win in Turkey or somehow engineer a 4-4 draw and qualify on away goals, the debutants are very much in the box seat going into next week

Dynamo Kiev vs Young Boys

Also in the box seat are Dynamo Kiev who take a 3-1 lead to Switzerland after making light work of Young Boys, the tie though is perhaps not over just yet though as that vital away goal for Young Boys just gives them a modicum of hope. Will need quite the turn around though

AEK Athens vs CSKA Moscow

A game that went with the form guide as CSKA Moscow ran out 2-0 winners in the Greek capital, they will be heavy favourites to progress

Steaua Bucharest vs Viktoria Plzen

While this one is anyone’s guess after they played out a 2-2 draw in Romania
