Atletico Madrid have closed the gap down to Barcelona in La Liga to only 3 points but Tonight the sole objective is to try to overturn the 2-1 deficit from the first leg of their Champions League encounter after tasting defeat at Nou Camp.
They will have to do that without Fernando Torres who is out through suspension due to his sending off last Tuesday. He grabbed the headlines for the wrong reasons, after continuing his excellent scoring record against Barcelona he then undid all his hard work by getting two yellow cards for what where poor mistimed tackles. It was always going to be hard going up against Barcelona at The Nou Camp it was going to be even harder with just 10 men.
Barcelona came from behind and made their numerical advantage count with Luis Suarez on hand to get a brace and give Barcelona the advantage going into Tonight’s 2nd leg. But with Atletico capturing a crucial away goal the tie is still very much in the balance.
The two teams had a mixed weekend as Atletico further eroded Barelona’s lead at the top with a win over Espanyol while Barcelona fell to their bogey team Real Sociedad at The Anoeta to play the La Liga title race wide open.
It’s been a quiet spell for MSN in comparison to the usual goal haul. Luis Suarez’s brace in the 1st leg are the only goals that the trio have registered in their last three matches. No real cause for concern and maybe it shows Barcelona are actually human but with Barcelona’s Defence you always feel there is goal in them so Barcelona are probably going to have to score Tonight to make sure they progress to the Semi Finals.
These two met at this stage back in 2014 and Atletico got the better of that encounter as they went all the way to the Final that year. Barcelona will be looking to exact some sort of revenge and also awaken from their mini slump.
I have a feeling this one will be a Draw and the holders will just do enough to progress to the Semi Finals where a possible El Clasico double header could await them. Barcelona to bounce back and progress this Evening.
