Aston Villa vs Wycombe – Match Preview

Jack Grealish may play in Aston Villa’s FA Cup third-round replay against Wycombe after recovering from illness.

The midfielder, 20, missed the original tie at the League Two side and Saturday’s draw with Leicester because of tonsillitis but is back training.

Midfielder Carlos Sanchez has recovered from a hamstring injury, while Gabby Agbonlahor (back) will be assessed.

Editor’s Note: Whisper it quietly but there is a slight resurgence around Villa Park over the last week or so. Firstly getting their first league win in 5 months and then battling back to get a draw against high flying Leicester, Remi Garde will be looking to conclude his best 7 days in the job so far by moving into the 4th Round of the F.A. Cup with a win over Wycombe Wanderers.

Emotions ran high after the first clash between these two sides with Micah Richards trying his best to placate the angry travelling fans, in fairness I don’t think the fans were prepared to listen they just wanted to vent their frustrations. Maybe that worked to a certain degree because the side have certainly looked much better in the last two league games but have they left themselves too much to do in terms of securing Premier League safety.

The Cup will be a welcome distraction this evening but they have to make sure they don’t fall victim to a giantkilling in the form of Wycombe Wanderers. The League Two side may well have looked at Villa’s last two results and possibly regret they didn’t get the job done first time around at Adams Park. Villa were low on confidence and there for taking but I have a feeling they won’t be like that Tonight.

Wycombe find themselves 6th in League Two but lost to lowly Hartlepool at the Weekend so not ideal result to set them up for Premier League opposition Tonight. I think Remi Garde’s side will be strong for Gareth Ainsworth’s men and I can’t see an upset here at Villa Park. A home win for me Tonight
