Germany’s Euro 2016 squad announced

World Champions Germany have announced their provisional squad for Euro 2016 and Manager Joachim Low has gone with a 27 man panel which will then be shortened to a final 23 man squad at the end of the month. It’s a very Midfield heavy squad and you get the feeling that is where the names will be cut but even more interesting is the fact they have only called up 1 recognised Striker. But when you’re the World Champions I guess you can get away with that especially with the amount of riches in Midfield.

The big headline must be the selection of Bastian Schweinsteiger, the Manchester United Midfielder must now prove his fitness to Manager Low if he is to make the final cut, he faces a competitive battle for those already over subscribed Midfield berths.

In terms of Premier League representation there are just two players selected in the squad with Emre Can joining Schweinsteiger but it seems likely that Can will play in a Defensive role if and when he gets some game time. The squad is unsurprisingly highly Bayern represented with there being no fewer than 5 players from the Bundesliga winners with youngster Joshua Kimmich alongside such talents as Mario Gotze and Thomas Muller

The full provisional squad is below
