Tottenham vs Swansea a few quick thoughts

  • Tottenham come from behind to get a 6th straight Premier League win and how big a win it could turn out to be
  • Arsenal’s defeat at Old Trafford coupled with Tottenham’s win has changed the landscape again in terms of the title race
  • It certainly wasn’t all plain sailing for Mauricio Pochettino’s side though
  • They could have even been behind after just 2 minutes as Hugo Lloris made an astonishing save from Tottenham old boy Gylfi Sigurdssson
  • Tottenham were in the ascendancy for the first 15 Minutes or so as Lukasz Fabianksi was called into action on a number of occasions
  • Then they were hit by a sucker punch when Alberto Paloschi managed to turn a deflected effort past the helpless Hugo Lloris
  • The goal was very much against the run of the play but Tottenham were relentless in their hunt for an equaliser
  • Fabianski was equal and above everything that Tottenham threw at him making save after save as he frustrated the North London side with Swansea going in ahead at the break.
  • It was more of the same after the break as Fabianski made an incredible save from Christian Eriksen’s Free Kick after the second have.
  • I’ve also notice that Dele Alli has joined Troy Deeney in Footballers who can only be mentioned by their full names when in commentary
  • Nacer Chadli came on and Spurs went even more attacking in a hunt for at least an equaliser
  • And it was the Super Sub who restored on parity after 70 Minutes, a deflected effort from Kyle Walker’s shot finally breaching the Swansea net and Fabianski
  • Even with 20 Minutes to go you still felt that Spurs could go on and get a winner
  • At times they were counter attacking with 6 on 3 it was a real gung ho approach
  • Just 7 Minutes later they got their just rewards as Danny Rose put them in front, his shot from the edge of the box went through a see of bodies and with Arsenal behind that was a massive swing
  • But Tottenham weren’t quite home and hosed yet
  • Alberto Paloschi called Hugo Lloris into action, the Frenchmen with a crucial near post save. His strong hand keeping a fierce volley from the Swansea Forward at bay.
  • Tottenham then thought they had it wrapped up, Kyle Walker mistimes his run from a counter attack. Puts it home but ruled out for offside. There were 5 players for Harry Kane to choose from, but he chose the wrong one
  • Tottenham had 34 attempts on Goal, 14 of those on target – Absolutely relentless
  • Spurs then held out and showed good game management to get them over the line and bag a crucial win
  • On this performance though, I would imagine Swansea will have enough to stay up this season. Francesco Guidolin’s appointment is looking a smart one.
  • Again Goals from all over the pitch, Nacer Chadli with another key contribution Today. He could just be the backup Striker that Spurs were looking for. Maybe it was under their noses all this time
  • How big will that win be come the end of the season, next up it’s West Ham. 5th vs 2nd, it certainly won’t be easy
