- Manchester United keep the pressure up on cross city rivals Manchester City in the race for 4th place with a win over Everton
- The victory for Louis Van Gaal’s side sees them now just a point behind City
- In a day where Sir Bobby Charlton had a stand named after him at Old Trafford
- It wasn’t a particularly memorable game with the first half offering up one of the most uninspring 45 minutes of Football this season
- John Stones again had a lapse of concentration while trying to play out from the back but this time around he wasn’t punished by the opposition
- The question will be whether Stones playing out from the back is actually to his sides detriment
- He’s one of the few players who can do it but all too often he is making life harder than it needs to be
- Ross Barkley had a particularly under par game and Romelu Lukaku was kept quiet throughout
- Anthony Martial broke the deadlock in the 54th Minute to give us the games only goal, it was a better second half from United who on the evidence of the first looked like they could have played all day and not scored
- Everton looked toothless in attack and it’s now a second straight defeat for Roberto Martinez’s side who stay 12th in the Premier League
- They are seemingly limping to the end of the season and will now hope that the F.A. Cup will bring a positive end to their campaign of underachievment
- Winning the cup might be what keeps Roberto Martinez in a job
- Whereas for Van Gaal finishing in the Top 4 would probably bring the same outcome
- It’s now 4 wins from 5 for United as they seem to be hitting form at just the right time of the season
- If only they could have been more like this throughout then who knows where they could have ended up
- The race for 4th is certainly hotting up. City still the favourites especially after a convincing win Yesterday at Bournemouth but United in their current guise aren’t going to make it easy for them
