Watford vs Everton – Match Preview

These two sides both F.A. Cup Semi Final duties at the end of the month and both clubs Spanish Managers will be thinking that their respective games can’t come soon enough as the league form for both Watford and Everton has seemingly deserted them.

14th plays host to 12th Today at Vicarage Road and at the start of the season if you were to offer 14th place to a Watford fan then they would have obviously have bitten your arm off, if you offered 12th place to an Everton fan then they would have sown that arm back on.

14th for Watford may seem like relative success but it’s been quite the slide from the lofty perch of 6th place before Christmas. Before the turn of the year Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney were scoring goals for fun and were the most feared partnership in the Premier League but in 2016 the goals have dried up and in turn so have Watford’s result.

Quique Sanchez Flores will be grateful they got so many points in the bank back in 2015 as they can just about afford this downturn in form, if they hadn’t then the last 6 games of the season could have been a lot more nervy.

If you ask anyone what the word most synonymous with Everton is this season then undoubtedly they would say ‘underachievement’ – the league campaign has been an absolute write off this season and a trio of defeats for Roberto Martinez’s side sees them languish in 12th

With a new shareholder at the club is 12th going to be deemed enough of a success to keep Roberto Martinez in a job for next season. Possibly not, I have a feeling it could be F.A. Cup win or bust for the man who managed that very feat with Wigan back in 2013.

Last time out his Everton side looked pretty blunt away at Old Trafford last Sunday, Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku were kept quiet and with that all of Everton’s attacking industry was contained for the Afternoon. Truth be told it didn’t make for good watching for Everton fans.

Both sides haven’t got a great deal to play for in terms of the league between now and the end of the season, this game is about as mid table as a mid table clash can be. That said both sides will be looking to find a win to at least give their fans to shout about and with that said I expect it will be a draw.
