Watford pay the Costel for Pantilimon

Watford have signed their second player in a week with the addition of Sunderland’s Goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon. The 28 year old Romanian International has signed for an undisclosed fee.

The ex Manchester City Goalkeeper has seen himself move down the pecking order at The Stadium Of Light, this was compounded when Jordan Pickford was in between the sticks on Saturday for their defeat at Tottenham,

Watford have lost their last 4 league matches so Sanchez Quique Flores obviously feels that the squad needs strengthening to ensure Premier League survival this season. The signing of Pantlimon will provide some competition for current Brazilian Goalkeeper Huerelho Gomes. Gomes is prone to the odd lapse of concentration, maybe too much for the top flight so it will be interesting to see if Pantilimon goes straight into the side this Weekend.
