If you’re like me you probably watch a stupendous amount of Football in any given week but how often do you actually go to a game. Well last night instead of being an armchair supporter I actually went to White Hart Lane and here are just a few of the things I noticed
- There’s not many better insults then a player being told to “Get your haircut” by an older (probably bald man)
- Fans are far too familiar with players. Calling them on first name terms as if they are close friends “Go on Dele” being a perfect example. He’s not going to text you after the game mate
- I was sitting in the front row last night and the Assistant Referee was getting absolute Dogs abuse, how they don’t react to it when they are just standing there is a credit too them even if sometimes it’s deserved
- Someone in the middle of the row will always get a pie on Minute 40 and not come back until the Minute 49 meaning everyone has to get up for him twice
- This same person will then leave to beat the traffic on Minute 82
- No one sings anymore
- Some fans will spend more time on their phones than watching the game
- While another fan will be constantly updating anyone in earshot as to how his 5 fold accumulator is progressing throughout the night
- Someone still won’t understand how Away Goals work after it’s been a thing for 50 years
- Why do the stewards do that weird half lying down, half looking back at the crowd at White Hart Lane with about 5 minutes to go, does this happen at other grounds?
- Getting a touch of the match ball when it goes out of play is quite a magical thing – unless it hits you square in the nose
Next time you’re at Football, see how many of these you observe or feel free to add your own in the comments
