The Neville, Neville era in Valencia is not getting off to a great start

It’s now 6 league games without a win since Gary Neville was appointed as Valencia Manager (7 if you include him watching in the stands for the draw at Home to Barcelona) The question you have to ask yourself is “Is The Gary Neville Experiment Working?”

For a club that pretty much needs Champions League qualification for them to not have another drastic fire sale. This is not what Owner Peter Lim probably had in mind when appointing the former Manchester United legend.

Yeah you could point to the fact he’s only been Manager two months and it’s a new language to learn but this is a side which qualified for The Champions League last season, you would have thought they would have at least registered a La Liga win by now

The crux of the issue is that he won’t be given time if they fail to finish in Top 4. Valencia have to qualify for Europe each season, that’s their whole business model. They literally cannot afford to be 11th.

This is a club that has been attempting to build a stadium for 10 years and still haven’t been able to finish construction due to a lack of funds. Peter Lim may have come in and eased the financial situation at Valencia but they are no means out of the woods yet.

Admittedly Neville has stepped in and done a favour for Peter Lim as they both are already business partners through their ownership of English Non League side Salford City, there’s no danger of Neville being sacked but he won’t be given the reigns long term. You have to give him credit for trying this but it turns out it’s harder to manage a team then it is too criticise from a comfy studio.

He may come good but it will be at another club and not Valencia You can be a good coach and a bad Manager they aren’t mutually exclusive. Maybe’s he’s just not cut out for this Manager lark and needs to go back to the touchscreens at Sky.
