Sunderland vs Chelsea – Match Preview

It’s been nine of the very best for Chelsea over the past few months as they earned that many successive wins on their way to being clear at the top of the Premier League. Tonight they will look to make it a perfect ten when they travel to The Stadium Of Light to face Sunderland.

Sunderland will still be reeling from the miserable defeat they were handed to by Swansea on Saturday. That all important 6 pointer went the way of Bob Bradley’s men but the manner in which Sunderland lost will be of some concern to David Moyes.

It was almost as if they reverted to type after a decent run of performances over the past four weeks. The 3-0 defeat at The Liberty Stadium almost had the hallmarks of one of The Black Cats early season defeats and if they play like they did against Swansea Tonight then they could be in for a very long evening.

That’s because Chelsea are brushing past all before them as of late. On Sunday West Brom were the latest victims to face the Blue juggernaut but that said Chelsea did need a small element of fortune for their win over Tony Pulis’ men at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea were limited to just one real effort in anger and it looked like it could have been not only a frustrating afternoon but the end of their winning run. That was until Gareth McAuley’s decision to take too much time on the ball saw him disposed by Diego Costa.

With Costa in such deadly form right now he was then always going to be favourite to score when the rare opportunity presented itself. Once the ball was struck the next thing that Ben Foster was doing was to pick the ball out of net.

It may not have been the most impressive of the nine Chelsea wins but like any side that goes to win the league they are winning matches when they are not at their best. Antonio Conte has turned this Chelsea side into a well oiled machine and the signs look pretty ominous for the rest of the Premier League right now.

And unfortunately for Sunderland after defeat to Swansea saw them once again rooted to the bottom of the table they won’t be moving off their Tonight in my opinion. The way Chelsea are playing at present their seems that there is no-one able to stop them and it certainly won’t be the league’s basement side. I think it will be 10 out of 10 for Chelsea this evening as they continue their top flight supreriority. An away win for me.
