Nikica Jelavic has joined the mass talent exodus to Chinese Football as of late with a move to Beijing Rehne of the Second Division. The 30 year old Croatian had not really been in the plans of Manager and compatriot Slaven Bilic this season with just 1 Premier League appearance to his name.
The £4m fee may not be on the same levels as Ramires or Jackson Martinez but to get £4m for Jelavic is no bad bit of business for West Ham considering they only paid £3m to sign him from Hull. His spell at Upton Park wasn’t a particularly memorable one with him only netting once in the Premier League.
That is another coup for Chinese Football but there is also someone leaving the exit door with news that Australian legend Tim Cahill has had his contract cancelled by Shanghai Shenhua. The 36 year old was said to be devestated by the news after being told he would not play a part in newly appointed coach Gregarion Manzano’s plans.
Whether this means Cahill will hang up his boots remains to be seen, maybe a move back to the native A-League could beckon. Even at 36 there will be still be a queue of clubs fighting for the ex Everton Midfielders signature.
