Newcastle vs Stoke – Match Preview

Newcastle captain Fabricio Coloccini is available after his sending off against Sunderland last weekend was overturned.

Jack Colback is serving a one-match ban, although he has also been ruled out for six weeks with a knee problem.

Stoke manager Mark Hughes will be without defenders Marc Muniesa and Geoff Cameron because of injury.

Captain Ryan Shawcross is expected to make his first league appearance of the season after returning in midweek, but Phil Bardsley is suspended.

Editor’s Note: Newcastle will be looking to bounce back from a miserable Tyne-Wear derby last week but will no doubt be buoyed by the fact Fabricio Coloccini has had his red card rescinded from last week. After showing signs of a resurgence a fortnight ago with their 6-2 win over Norwich they will be looking to bounce back in the best possible way with 3 points today.

Going up against a Stoke side who had to go to extra time and penalties on Tuesday to progress past Chelsea in League Cup means there is a possibility that Stoke could be a bit leggy going into this game but will Newcastle be able to take advantage. My money is on a draw today and possibly last on Match Of The Day tonight.
