Leicester vs Newcastle – Match Preview

Leicester have no new injury problems, with Riyad Mahrez declared fit to play.

The Algerian winger has shaken off the hamstring strain that he picked up in the win over Watford last weekend.

New Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez will assess the fitness of Fabricio Coloccini and Andros Townsend, who have been nursing respective calf and hamstring problems.

Left-back Paul Dummett misses out after aggravating a hamstring injury.

Editor’s Note: With Tottenham winning yesterday at Villa Park the pressure goes back onto Leicester as they will again look to extend their advantage to the top to 5 points.

Last time out they took full advantage of the fact that The North London Derby ended in a draw by beating Watford 1-0 thanks to a Riyad Mahrez, they’ll be hoping for more of the same Tonight what with Mahrez being passed fit to start.

But this game could have a twist in the tale with Newcastle sacking Steve McClaren and replacing him with Rafa Benitez. Will Newcastle get a new Manager bounce and not only hamper Leicester’s title winning plans but pull themselves out of the bottom 3.

This game is almost a free shot for Newcastle as with McClaren in charge it’s fair to say that they wouldn’t have been expected to get anything out of this, but now they can come to The King Power with somewhat renewed confidence.

What would have been a routine Monday Night Football outing has taken on even more interest from a Spurs fan point of view I hope Newcastle do us a massive favour but unfortunately I don’t think Rafa is going to be able to work his magic just yet. A home win for me.
