Manchester United vs Swansea – Match Preview

Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard is a doubt with the hamstring injury that has kept him out for three weeks.

Long-term absentees Antonio Valencia, Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo remain out.

Swansea’s Federico Fernandez is still battling the bruised heel which saw him miss the draw at Crystal Palace.

Caretaker manager Alan Curtis rotated his squad for that game but Angel Rangel, Leon Britton, Ki Sung-yueng, Wayne Routledge, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Andre Ayew could all return.

Editor’s Note: Louis Van Gaal oversaw his side grind out a 0-0 draw at home to Chelsea on Monday in a game which ssae keep his job at least for now. He has to now make sure he can hang on to it a little longer with the visit of Swansea in the horizon this Afternoon.

United are now 6 league games without a win and they have also their last 3 outings against Swansea so the form book doesn’t really point to a win today but surely Louis Van Gaal has to get a win from somewhere soon.

Van Gaal will no doubt be happy with a clean sheet on Monday but it’s the performances in Midfield and Attack which are the main issues with the Midfield looking laboured and the Attack non existent.

He has tried not starting Wayne Rooney but that didn’t really make things any better and frankly they are a side devoid of options and confidence right now and Swansea may very well think that they are their for the taking today.

Alan Curtis has steadied the ship at Swansea with them now unbeaten in their last 3 matches, it now looks increasingly likely that Curtis will be given the job until the end of the season and a win here would do his job prospects no harm at all.

Key players were rested on Monday but they still battled to a credible draw away at Palace so expect a rejig of the side today. Swansea need goals though and will need Bafetimbi Gomis on the same form as when the two sides last met in August.

Unfortunately for Swansea, I think United’s winless streak ends here today but if it doesn’t then don’t be surprised if Van Gaal is issued his P45 before next weeks Cup Game against Sheffield United. Should be a home win….should
