Lincoln lose in Europe

Plucky Linclon of Gibraltar can hold their heads high and also feel they are still in with a shout of progressing to the third round of the 2015-16 Champions League qualifiers. After a 1-0 defeat away to Danish champions Midtyjlland in Tuessday’s first leg the tie is still very much in the balance. A Morten Rasmussen goal after 33 minutes proved to be the difference but the Danish side would have liked to made the winning margin a lot larger and can no way consider this job done.

As far as British and Irish interest in the qualifiers went:

Celtic despatched of Icelandic champions Stjarnan with a routine 2-0 win at Celtic Park, although this could have been 3 had Leigh Griffiths not missed a penalty. They will certainly feel they have one foot in the third qualifying round after that result.

Dundalk lost 2-1 to Belarussian champions and usual group stage protagonisits BATE Borisov but crucially they got an away goal to keep the tie alive.

Crusaders of Northern Ireland are all but out after losing 4-1 in Albania to Skenderbeu while Welsh Premier League champions The New Saints will have their work cut out after losing 1-0 at home to Hungarian side Videoton.

Here are the first leg results from the last two evenings in full, with the seconds legs to be played next week.
