Leicester vs Chelsea – Match Preview

Leicester welcome back on-loan winger Nathan Dyer, who was ineligible against parent club Swansea last weekend.

The Foxes have no new fitness concerns but Ritchie de Laet remains out with an ankle problem, while Matt James lacks match fitness after a long-term injury.

Chelsea have reported no injury problems, although Radamel Falcao is short of fitness and unlikely to feature.

The Blues could be unchanged from Wednesday’s 2-0 win against FC Porto.

Editor’s Note: Leicester can go back to the top of the table tonight if they win at home, they’ve got the slight task of beating Champions Chelsea. Although that in itself isn’t as an arduous prospect as it would have been 4 months ago.

The Foxes went top last weekend after a routine 3-0 win over Swansea a win that saw Riyad Mahrez give a man of the match performance scoring a hat trick and Jamie Vardy not manage to continue his record breaking goal scoring run. If he doesn’t score tonight he’s peaked (Joke)

Leicester now have an incredibly difficult 4 matches coming up and this will be a real acid test as to if they can maintain their fantastic start to the season, not only would a win take them top but it would also put them 9 points clear of Tottenham in 5th. If that was to happen then whisper it quietly but you may have to start talking about Leicester in Champions League terms

They go up against Chelsea side who were showing signs of a mini revival after a league win over Norwich and then an away point at Tottenham but the momentum was very much halted after their shock defeat to Bournemouth last weekend. There is concern up front as they’ve only registered 1 league goal in the last 3 matches.

Jose Mourinho has decided either to go with a fluid set up of attacking midfielders and now front striker or with Diego Costa up top. But neither system seems to be working as of late, many column inches have been written on the demise of Chelsea and I won’t be adding anything new on that today but the interesting battle will no doubt be Claudio Ranieri vs Jose Mourinho

Can The Tinkerman get the better of The Special One at the King Power Stadium tonight. Chelsea if they were lose today could see them a staggering 20 points behind Leicester and that would probably all but end their Champions League aspirations for this season with the only route back in then being to win the tournament outright come May.

It’s not a game that Mourinho can afford to lose in terms of job safety, it’s been pretty much proved that his job is safe for now but for the fact that a loss would see them stay in the 16th place that they slipped into due to the previous results that have happened this weekend.

I think Mourinho’s team will certainly setup not to lose as did Manchester United a fortnight ago but I can actually see Chelsea snatching all 3 points and keeping their faint top 4 hopes alive. An away win for me
