Laurent Blanc extends contract for easiest job in Football

Paris Saint Germain coach Laurent Blanc has signed a contract extension until 2018, the runaway French League leaders are yet to lose a game this season and are an astonishing 24 points clear at the top of Ligue 1.

The Qatari owned side won all before them last season at domestic level and look to set to repeat the feat this time around, they also have an upcoming Champions League Round of 16 tie against Chelsea. Chelsea will no doubt be looking to exact revenge for being knocked out by Laurent Blanc’s side in the 2014/15 edition of the tournament.

For Blanc though, it’s like playing Football Manager and mucking about with the Editor to give yourself a stupidly good squad. His PSG side have hardly broken a sweat all season, I mean with their closest rival being 24 points behind it’s not as if the title race is going to go down to the wire now is it.

It’s almost a situation more farcical than Scottish Football at least in Scotland this season Aberdeen are making a good fist of the title race, although whether that’s because Celtic have been incredibly below par could also be argued. But you can’t see anyone beating PSG to the Ligue 1 title for 5-10 years at least, that’s how big the chasm has become in France.

The only real target that PSG have to aim for that has eluded them so far is the Champions League, there’s no reason why they can’t go on to win it in the next few years, maybe even this season but maybe that’s the only way in which Blanc can be evaluated as to how good a coach he really is. I mean I don’t have my F.A. Badges but I’m sure I could just about take this side to a Ligue 1 title come the end of the season.

Is this a safe job for Blanc to pad out his C.V. to then make a move to the Premier League in a couple of seasons time, maybe to replace compatriot Arsene Wenger at Arsenal once he decides to call time on his lengthy managerial reign at The Emirates. That is all conjecture for the future but for now Blanc has to have the ever so difficult task of picking a team including Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani to play against Lille this Saturday. Bon Chance PSG!
