January BBC Gossip Column Debunked – Issue 28

There’s something about the F.A. Cup that just knocks your routine out of sync, this series is no different as it is running somewhat late. Never mind though as it finally arrives and with that said here is all of Sunday’s transfer gossip.

As always – gossip in plain text, my views in bold

Manchester City are ready to make a £150m move for Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, 27, after Pep Guardiola identified the Belgium winger as his main summer transfer target. (Sunday Mirror) After Alexis Sanchez slipped through City’s hands this potential move could be even bigger. Will it happen though, let’s see where Chelsea finish this season before we start talking about this.

Arsenal must either meet Borussia Dortmund’s £60m asking price for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, 28, or look elsewhere. (Sunday Mirror) The answer is staring Arsenal in the face, just pay Borussia Dortmund the money that they are asking for. They are making life so much harder than it needs to be.

Paris St-Germain chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi says the rumours of Neymar, 25, moving to Real Madrid make him laugh and insists “2,000%” that the Brazil international will be at the Ligue 1 outfit next season. (Mail on Sunday) How about if Cristiano Ronaldo goes the other way as part of the deal though?

Manchester City and Manchester United are set to battle it out against in an attempt to sign Brazil midfielder Fred, 24, from Shakhtar Donetsk. (Daily Star Sunday) I don’t think City will settle for being beaten twice by their cross town rivals.

Liverpool and Tottenham are set to miss out on 28-year-old Paris St-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore, who has confirmed that returning to Italy is his priority. (Metro) I don’t think this was ever really a goer for either club to be honest

Former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique is the leading candidate to replace Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, whose future is in doubt at the club, in the summer. (Mail on Sunday) Something that has been mentioned on this very website previously

Chelsea are ready to make an improved bid to try to complete a deal to sign former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko from Roma. (Sunday Express) I guess it makes more sense then trying to sign Ashley Barnes

Arsenal are set to win the race to sign West Brom defender Jonny Evans, 30, with Manchester City poised to sign Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao. (Daily Star Sunday) I think City have got the better end of the respective deals there

Burnley boss Sean Dyche wants Arsenal defender Rob Holding, 22, on loan for the rest of the season but any deal could depend on whether the Gunners are able to sign Jonny Evans. (Sun on Sunday) All a part of the transfer merry go round which is going to be in full swing over the next few days

Roma have turned down Liverpool’s bid for 25-year-old Brazil goalkeeper Alisson Becker. (Metro) After Mignolet’s performance against West Brom, surely they have to be looking for a goalkeeper in the Summer

Newcastle are set to beat Liverpool to the signature of Brazil forward Luan, 24, from Gremio for £17.5m. (Sun on Sunday) Good news for Newcastle fans as the transfer window nears a close

Jorginho’s agent has met Manchester United representatives ahead of a move for the 26-year-old from Napoli. (Manchester Evening News) Is it a move that can take place this month, we shall see

Manchester United are set to reject offers from Juventus and Roma to sign Italian defender Matteo Darmian, 28, on loan. (Sunday Express) So Darmian is not on the move after it was reported he was earlier in the week.

Tottenham will continue talks with Paris St-Germain over a potential £22m deal for 25-year-old Lucas Moura. (Sunday Telegraph) This one is not quite over the line yet

Leicester striker Leonardo Ulloa, 31, is reportedly close to a loan move back to former club Brighton. (Leicester Mercury) They do say in Football that you should never go back

Feyenoord have set Newcastle a deadline to meet their £20m asking price for 27-year-old Danish striker Nicolai Jorgensen. (Newcastle Chronicle) Does that mean Newcastle will be buying two forwards before Wednesday

Newcastle and Crystal Palace are eyeing moves for Red Star Belgrade striker Richmond Boakye, 24. (HITC) Boyake-sha

Liverpool have reduced their asking price for Daniel Sturridge, paving the way for the 28-year-old to move to Inter Milan on loan. (Sunday Mirror) Could this be the move that helps Sturridge’s England hopes?

West Ham are trying to bring 32-year-old former Southampton striker Graziano Pelle back from China. (Inside Futbol) It looks as if the Chinese gravy train is beginning to run dry

West Ham’s exit from the FA Cup at the hands of Wigan have damaged on-loan keeper Joe Hart’s prospects of making the England squad for the World Cup as there is a doubt about how much first-team football the 30-year-old may now get with the Hammers.
