Football INDEX – First Weekend Portfolio Review

You may have seen on Friday night that I launched my Real Football Man Investments company – if you did not you can read my opening piece in regards to using Football INDEX here

Ok now that you’ve read that you are hopefully up to speed and you can join me in tracking the success of my RFM Investments portfolio. So after the weekends action let’s now see how my portfolio performed.

And unfortunately we’re not off to a money making start – perhaps my method of diversifying was not the wrong idea but perhaps I’ve purchased the wrong players.

Here is a review of what happened since Friday night – firstly I’ll list the price in which I purchased the players

Gonzalo Higuian £0.75 – 2 Shares – Total Outlay £1.50
Marcos Alonso £0.69 – 2 Shares – Total Outlay £1.38
Romelu Lukaku £2.13 – 2 Shares – Total Outlay £4.26
Cristiano Ronaldo £1.89 – 1 Share – Total Outlay £1.89
Nathan Redmond £0.53 – 1 Share – Total Outlay £0.53
Andros Townsend £0.36 – 1 Share – Total Outlay £0.36

And here is what they are worth now

Gonzalo Higuian £0.74 – 2 Shares – Total Worth £1.48 – Loss 2p
Marcos Alonso £0.57 – 2 Shares – Total Worth £1.14 – Loss 24p
Romelu Lukaku £2.00 – 2 Shares – Total Worth £4.00 – Loss 26p
Cristiano Ronaldo £1.89 – 1 Share – Total Worth £1.84 – Loss 5p
Nathan Redmond £0.53 – 1 Share – Total Worth £0.53 – No Change
Andros Townsend £0.35 – 1 Share – Total Worth £0.36 – Loss 1p

So i’ve seen 58p wiped off of my portfolio in the first week. The portfolio was worth £9.92 with an 8p reserve, it’s now worth £9.34 with an 8p reserve. I’m sure you will all agree that it’s not the best start in proceedings but don’t walk away just yet.

I’m going to go with a change of tact, I’m going to put all my money in Zlatan. It may be a bold move but he’s not the top rated player (share) on the market. So by selling all my current stock, I have lost a further 55p. Meaning I’m down to £8.99 in total. But that will get me two shares in Zlatan at £4.10 a share.

So quite simply my portfolio looks as so

Zlatan Ibrahimovic – £4.10 – 2 Shares – Total Outlay – £8.20

Therefore I currently hold 2 shares in Zlatan with a 79p reserve, overall I’ve lost £1.01 since opening my portfolio. In laymans terms I am already 10.1% down on my initial investment. Not a great start at all but by consolidating my invesment then hopefully we can steady the ship.

The obvious sweet spot will be when Zlatan gets to £5.01 as that is when we would have turned a profit, so I’m going to sit on Ibrahimovic for a while and track the movements it is as simple as that.

So that concludes this update, do you already invest in Football INDEX? If so I would love to hear how you are doing, as any tips are always welcome. More importantly if you’ve read this and think you can do better then sign up for a Football INDEX account of your own. Simply sign up here

I’ll be back later in the week as hopefully Ibrahimovic features against St-Etienne in the Europa League and we can begin to turn this ship around. Until then.
