Can Spurs Squeeze Into The Top Four?

Jose Mourinho and his Tottenham Hotspur side have had a very up and down season, one of which they were looking to be title contenders pre-Christmas. However, this Premier League season has been one of the most unpredictable on record, with many sides looking as if they could win the league. Spurs now though, have gone off the boil big time and now look like they are fighting for their position in Europe’s elite and below we look at their chances of finishing in the top four.

Spurs started the season looking like one of the most incredible sides to watch due to the attacking brilliance that this current side have. Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son have become one of the best attacking duos in the Premier League this season with a combination of 26 goals and 17 assists this season which is the most between a pair in the league this year. With all the hype in the summer around Gareth Bale joining in the summer too, many Spurs fans were starting to believe that this might be their year for the Premier League.

Many of the Spurs fans will be point the finger towards Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff as to the reason why they have been so inconsistent this season and been in free fall since Christmas. Mourinho has always been a defensive coach and one that believes if you don’t concede then the likelihood of you winning is higher. However, many Tottenham fans are now saying why are we playing with 11 men behind the ball when we have the attacking quality in this side and looking like we are timid to take it to other teams, rather than inviting pressure onto the Tottenham defence.

One of the main reasons as to why we believe that Spurs won’t get into the top four is due to their defensive frailties. The Spurs board has backed Mourinho in the transfer window in terms of the defensive signings and it’s staying to show as Mourinho is trying to play a defensive style with players that aren’t buying into his philosophy. If Spurs want to get anywhere near that top four then they need to invest in their defence, just like many football punters are currently investing in these online casinos in which Max Casinos lists some non-gamstop casinos which have become some of the most well-rounded gambling experiences on the internet.
