BBC Gossip Column Debunked – Issue 52

Whether it is safe to come out of the woodwork after all the going’s on with Neymar I’m not too sure, ultimately life goes on and not only that Barcelona have a huge amount of to spend as they will look to replace the Brazilian. So with that in mind it is time to look at Friday’s transfer gossip

Gossip in standard font, my thoughts are in bold

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane believes the club must sell winger Gareth Bale, 28, if they are to sign Monaco’s 18-year-old forward Kylian Mbappe. (Marca) That does look like the most likely option, not only that but someone is going to end up being surplus to requirements and that someone would be Gareth Bale

Chelsea striker Diego Costa, 28, will hand in a formal transfer request with the Premier League champions. (Independent) Does not really change the situation that he cannot find a new club to play for next season

Tottenham are interested in Genoa forward Giovanni Simeone, the 22-year-old son of Atletico Madrid boss Diego. (Mirror) This would be a useful addition and fill that bracket of talented young backup player, Daniel Levy get him signed!

Sunderland are set to sell 29-year-old winger Jeremain Lens after agreeing a £4.5m fee with Besiktas. (Sunderland Echo) Another player to leave Sunderland who start their season tonight

The Black Cats are in advanced talks with Aston Villa over a loan for Scottish striker Ross McCormack, 30. (Daily Mail) This was reported yesterday, a decent signing IF he can stay fit

Belgian club Anderlecht have entered the race to sign 31-year-old Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen, who is also a target for West Brom. (Birmingham Mail) Again if he can stay fit then this could be a decent capture for The Baggies, although European football with Anderlecht may prove more appealing

Newcastle will face competition from a host of clubs for the signature of 28-year-old Arsenal forward Lucas Perez. (Talksport) I’m sure a move to Deportivo will be the most likely option

Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko, 27, is in talks over a loan move to Turkish side Trabzonspor. (Evening Chronicle) I really hope that Trabzonspor are paying his wages, more importantly that we get someone else in first before the Frenchman’s departure

Watford have made an enquiry about Liverpool’s 25-year-old left-back Alberto Moreno. (IBTimes) Watford have been frustrated in trying to get Kieran Gibbs from Arsenal and now they turn their attention to the Spaniard, I think they would be better persevering with Gibbs

The Hornets hope to bring in Everton’s 30-year-old winger Aaron Lennon on loan before the new season starts. (Watford Observer) Lennon is surplus to requirements at Goodison Park, this a move that has certainy got some legs

Middlesbrough’s England Under-20 midfielder Harry Chapman, 19, has held talks with Blackburn Rovers. (Evening Gazette) Blackburn are looking to bounce back to the EFL Championship at the first time of asking and are the bookmakers favourites
