BBC Gossip Column Debunked – Issue 14

Monday lunchtime, half way through what is arguably the worst day of the week (that said Tuesday is also a contender for that crown) Put your Tesco Meal Deal down for a couple of minutes and digest the latest transfer debunking

Gossip in standard font, my thoughts are in bold

Manchester United and Paris St-Germain will meet the £174m release clause in Barcelona forward Neymar’s contract if the Brazil international chooses to leave the Spanish giants. (Don Balon via Daily Star) If being the very operative word here, I cannot see this one taking place during the summer

Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud could replace Romelu Lukaku at Everton if the Belgium striker leaves Goodison Park. Giroud, 30, is reportedly unsettled at Emirates Stadium and could move closer to an exit if the Gunners complete the signing of his France team-mate Alexandre Lacazette, 26. It could very well be the striker merry go round begins, ultimately needs either Lacazette or Lukaku to move first

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has told the club’s board that they must re-sign Lukaku, 24, at any price this summer – even if it means meeting Everton’s £100m valuation.(Telegraph) If this is the case then the above will very much come to fruition. Both Arsenal and Chelsea will more than likely add new strikers during this transfer window and I would have thought sooner rather than later

Manchester United are hopeful of completing the signing of Spain striker Alvaro Morata, 24, before they fly to the United States for their pre-season tour on Sunday. (Manchester Evening News)  How long does this need to take, talk about drawn out

United boss Jose Mourinho is also preparing a big-money bid for Borussia Dortmund’s Spain defender Marc Bartra, 26.(AS via Metro) It’s our Manchester United link of the day!

Newly promoted Newcastle have entered the race for 30-year-old Hull midfielder Tom Huddlestone. Remember when he had that massive afro from not scoring a goal, imagine if he never scored a goal and was still growing it now
