Barcelona vs Sevilla in less than 3 minutes

Barcelona continue to apply pressure on La Liga leaders Real Madrid after a comprehensive win over Sevilla last night at the Nou Camp. Sevilla’s own title challenge has faded over the past few weeks and they will have to make do with securing a place in next seasons Champions League. Jorge Sampaoli’s men are seven points ahead of Villarreal and with 8 games to go are very much in the driving seat to secure a 4th place finish.

Luis Enrique’s side are not quite in the La Liga driving seat as they still find themselves two points off the top but they are doing all they can to keep Real Madrid on their toes. Luis Suarez opened the scoring on 25 minutes as the Uruguyan broke the deadlock with a sensational overhead volley. The home side’s advantage would be doubled just three minutes later when who else but Lionel Messi was on hand to get on the scoresheet as he returned from absence.

It would be the Argentine who would make sure of all three points and round off an emphatic performance when he thrashed home a fierce volley to secure the win. The night would go from bad to worse for Sevilla in injury time as Manolo was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Barcelona have won 9 out of their last 10 matches, the only blip being the shock defeat to Deportivo last month. Had they won that game they would have been top of the table now, with their nearest rivals Real also having a game in hand the advantage certainly sits with them. You get the feeling that as per usual El Clasico is once again going to be the season defiinng match and should the Catalan giants fail to win in Madrid then you would have to say the title will finally be returning to The Bernabeu for the first time since 2012.
