Real Football Man All of the Football, All of the time
Barcelona bounced back from dropping further ground in the title race to Real Madrid last weekend with a 5 star performance at home to Las Palmas yesterday. The Catalan giants now find themselves 2 points behind Real but Los Blancos have two games in hand are right now are simply unstoppable.
In a week where Real surpassed Barcelona’s 39 game winning streak, comments by a Director about Lionel Messi which subsequently saw him sacked and Luis Suarez scored his 100th goal for the club in just 120 games, the Uruguayan showed no signs of letting up yesterday as he added goals 101 and 1o2 to his tally.
Suarez turned in an Andre Gomes cut-back for the only goal of the first half, but hosts Barca then scored three quick goals after the break. Lionel Messi tapped in and Suarez then steered a lovely shot into the corner, before Arda Turan made it 4-0. That result eased the pressure on Luis Enrique but ultimately he will be judged at the end of the season with their still being a large cloud looming over him in regards to his job security.
With the gap at just two points at the top of La Liga they will now hope that Sevilla can do them a favour later tonight in what is easily the tie of the weekend with Real coming to town. These two sides drew 3-3 in the week with a late Karim Benzema goal keeping their unbeaten streak in tact.
But it’s not just Sevilla who could do a favour for Barcelona they could very well enhance their own chances of winning La Liga should they managed to finally end the unbeaten streak of Zinedine Zidane’s side. So there is a lot riding on the result later on.
