Atletico Madrid vs Malaga in less than 3 minutes

Atletico Madrid returned to winning ways yesterday with a 4-2 win over Malaga. Last Sunday saw not only their unbeaten record finally gone at the hands of Sevilla but it also saw them fall from top to fifth in La Liga. It was a very costly defeat for Diego Simeone’s side and he will be pleased to see that his side have bounced back to third in the table.

It was quite a feisty encounter with both teams ended the game with 10 men and it was arguably an even more impressive win with the fact that Atletico played half an hour with a numerical disadvantage.

Yann Carrasco opened the scoring with a fantastic individual effort while Kevin Gamiero then doubled Atletico’s advantage on 24 minutes. That two goal advantage would be halved when Sandro Ramirez scored from a free kick after a half hour.

But Atletico would have their two goal advantage restored before the break when Kevin Gamiero added his second of the game. 15 minutes after the restart Atletico would be a man light when Stefan Savic was shown his marching orders

Malaga then looked to make that man advantage count when just 5 minutes later Ignacio Camacho pulled it back to 3-2. But try as they might they just couldn’t get back into the game and level matters at 3-3 and the game was all wrapped up when Carrasco added his second of the game late on. To add insult to injury Malaga would then lose Gonzalo Castro after a second yellow to also finish the match a man short.

Ideal preparations for Atletico as they move into Champions League action in midweek.
