Adebayor to hopefully be shown the door

Aston Villa have opened talks with Tottenham over the possibility of signing Emmanuel Adebayor

Aston Villa have opened talks with Tottenham over the proposed transfer of Emmanuel Adebayor.

Manager Tim Sherwood has earmarked the 31-year-old as a replacement for Liverpool-bound Christian Benteke.

Tottenham want around £4million for Adebayor but the stumbling block is his wages of £100,000-a-week. Villa hope to arrange a deal where bonuses can supplement Adebayor’s wages.

Sherwood may yet bid for Tottenham’s Andros Townsend although the England winger wants to fight for his place at White Hart Lane.

The Villa manager has also enquired about Monaco’s exciting forward Anthony Martial. The 19-year-old has been a target for Tottenham this summer and Monaco are reluctant to sell. However, the French league side are open to selling their stars for the right offer.

Tottenham expect Benjamin Stambouli to complete his £6million transfer to Paris Saint-Germain by Monday.

He underwent a medical over the weekend and has agreed a five-year deal.

Editor’s Note: I would be over the moon if all the above transfer business happens. If Tottenham want to give me the petrol money I would drive to Birmingham myself (the fact I don’t own a car is neither here or there). With Adebayor hopefully out of the door this would also intimate that we are looking to get in a replacement in. Personally I wouldn’t be too unhappy with Martial from Monaco, although the fact he is 19 years old could be a bit of a risk, but I suppose these are the players we are going to have to be looking to get. Young, hungry and with a potential re-sale value in a few years time.
As for the other departures I’ve made no secret in saying that I would like Townsend and Stambouli to depart this Summer and certainly wouldn’t shed any tears if Townsend also made the move up to Birmingham but as for Stambouli it’s a bit crazy that he could be playing Champions League Football this coming season when he looked set to sign for Watford a week ago. Obviously he looks set to replace Cabaye who left Paris a week or so ago, it’s just a real shame he went the wrong side of the river. But on a positive note we do seem to be selling a lot of fringe players which can only mean we’ve got a considerable war chest to hopefully spend in the next few weeks.
Daniel if you’re reading, I’d like 1 Striker, 1 Wide Forward and 1 Centre Midfielder.
Many Thanks
