Group C came to a close last night and the ‘King Of Africa’ (a title bestowed by myself) Herve Renard sees his Morocco side through to the Quarter Finals at the expense of holders Ivory Coast. Who was in charge when the Ivorians won the tournament in 2015?, that’s right none other than Herve himself.
A draw was enough for The Atlas Lions to qualify but they went one better with a slender 1-0 win to see them through as group runners up. Rachid Alioui scored with a terrific shot from 25 yards to secure the passage to the knockout stages.
In the other group game, DR Congo secured top spot with a 3-1 win over Togo, where they will go onto meet either Egypt or Ghana in the Quarter Finals
