Real Football Man All of the Football, All of the time
In one of the more left field pieces of managerial news you’ll hear this month, Slovenian side Olimpija Ljubljana have decided not to progress with their interest in Harry Redknapp as they currently look for a new Manager.
It’s not quite the random link you may imagine due to the fact that serial club chairman Milan Mandaric has a presidential role at the club, the interest was cooled after it was felt that Redknapp’s knowledge of Slovenian Football wasn’t enough for him to be a suitable fit.
I mean you can imagine it now can’t you. Redknapp turning up and struggling to command with the Slovenian language, I mean he struggles to get to grips with the English language at times. No doubt Joe Jordan and Kevin Bond would also be part of the backroom team
And of course there would be the splurging the modest transfer budget on Peter Crouch, Jermaine Defoe and getting Niko Kranjcar in on a 6 month loan deal. Then moaning about how he’s down to the bare bones and might have to ask the owner for some more funds. Also I’m not sure on the quarantine rules for his dog Rosie so maybe the deal was always going to be a non starter.
Is that it now for Harry Redknapp as a top level coach, it certainly looks that way in England. Maybe Harry is looking for one last pay day abroad. To be honest I think Olimpija Ljubljana probably dodged on a bullet on this one to be fair.
