Tottenham vs Bournemouth a few quick thoughts

  • Tottenham aren’t prepared to give up their hopes of winning the Premier League just yet as they cut the gap back down to 5 points again after another relentless performance at Home
  • The pressure was certainly on them Today what with Leicester’s win Yesterday but you certainly wouldn’t think it after watching their performance
  • Harry Kane settled the nerves after just 43 seconds as he was on hand to turn home Kyle Walker’s cross
  • The perfect start to the game for Mauricio Pochettino’s side while Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth were caught napping
  • If the nerves were settled after 43 seconds then it was all but game over after 15 Minutes
  • Kevin Wimmer with an excellent searching ball to Dele Alli who just as quickly found Harry Kane
  • Brilliant build up and a sensational finish and Tottenham’s advantage was doubled within quarter of an hour of the game’s start
  • It was almost three soon after but Dele Alli’s effort was ruled out for offside. It was a torrid first half for Bournemouth they just couldn’t get close to the home side
  • After the break it’s fair to say that Bournemouth did come out of the blocks a little better and tried to get themselves back in the game
  • Eddie Howe made some personnel changes but it couldn’t change the flow of the game as Tottenham went in search in a third and on 53 minutes they found it
  • Once again Artur Boruc laid the goal on a plate for Spurs after only parrying Harry Kane’s effort straight into the path of Christian Eriksen who was left with a simple tap in to wrap up all 3 points
  • The atmosphere at White Hart Lane was buoyant with the Home fans singing “Leicester City, we’re coming for you”
  • And on Today’s performance there’s absolutely no reason why they can’t
  • Yes the obviously still have a 5 point gap to close down but with performances like this they will be able to beat just about anyone
  • The third Goal took the sting out of the game and allowed Pochettino to make some substitutions but it didn’t stop Harry Kane trying to complete his hat-trick
  • He just came up short but his brace has seen him move clear at the top in the race for the Golden Boot as he is now clear in front with 21 Goals
  • He has also scored 20+ Goals in back to back seasons, so much for a one season wonder
  • Eric Dier was subbed off on 89 Minutes to a standing ovation and more importantly he came through the game unscathed in terms of bookings and now will be free to face Liverpool and Manchester United after the International Break
  • For Bournemouth it will be an Afternoon to forget. They’ve reached their objective in terms of securing Premier League safety but Eddie Howe will now have to make sure his side’s momentum doesn’t drop off in the last 7 games
  • I think this one might be the exception rather than the rule as Spurs simply outclassed them in all departments
  • All Tottenham can keep doing is keep winning their games and just hope Leicester slip up. If they can get through Liverpool and United and still be within 5 points then they will be in with a shout
  • Still a lot to do but they are certainly going about in the right way. A job well done for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and the race for the title isn’t quite a forgone conclusion
