- A routine win in the end for Manchester United
- Even though they had 14 players out injured it was still a relatively strong side on show
- Disappointment for some fans no doubt as this means Louis Van Gaal stay in the job for at least another week
- Chris Smalling’s deflected opener gave United on 37 Minutes and even from there you thought it was pretty much job done
- With Juan Mata doubling the advantage just before half time it was the knockout blow for the League One outfit
- Whether Mata’s goal should have stood is debatable due to the fact the a number of his team-mates were blocking the Shrewsbury Goalkeeper’s line of vision
- Personally I would have given Offside for interfering with play but it seems as United get a bit of overdue fortune last night
- That second before the break killed off any hopes that Shrewsbury may have of getting into the tie
- The tie was wrapped well and truly by Jesse Lingard who made it 3-0 and a job well done as they eased into the Quarter Finals. His celebration still continues to annoy me
- It was the potential final obstacle for Van Gaal but he has cleared this one and given himself at least some brief respite before the visit of Arsenal on Sunday
- West Ham now await them in the next round of the Cup
