Match Of The Day a few quick thoughts

  • Leicester leave it late but come away with all 3 points at home to Norwich, a win that swings the pendulum back in their favour as the gap is now at 5 points over both Spurs and Arsenal and the onus is on them to get results Today.
  • The obvious cliche will be “Is this Win a sign of the Champions?” That win alone isn’t going to win them the League but it is certainly going to go some way to helping their cause
  • As for Norwich, they managed to contain Leicester and their Defence looked the best that’s it’s been for weeks now. It’s now no win 6 though for The Canaries, if these are the wins that get you a title, then these are the defeats that send you down.
  • Another side who benefited from a late winner was Chelsea, up to 11th in the League and Guus Hiddink stays unbeaten in the Competition since taking charge for a second time. It’s also a run of 11 games unbeaten for the Champions as they look to salvage something from this season
  • As for Southampton, it’s a first defeat in 7 matches and the first time that Fraser Forster has had his net breached since returning from long term injury. The Saints dropped to 7th after this gut wrenching defeat
  • Apologies must go to all West Brom and Crystal Palace fans, my hangover got their better of me and I didn’t have the time and energy to preview your game properly. I dismissed it as a boring Saturday evening in store and it was anything but. A 5 Goal thriller at The Hawthorns saw West Brom do their best to give away a 3-0 lead but in the end they managed to hang on.
  • As for Palace, still no win in the League since December 19th, if they don’t start winning soon they could be this year’s Newcastle and plummet down the table like a stone. Would be ironic for Alan Pardew that the club he left were in a mess last season and this season it could be him struggling to beat the drop.
  • I think they’ll be ok but as for Alan Pardew’s aspirations of being the next Manager they are drifting away. He’s gone back to being a below average Manager again
  • More misery for Aston Villa. A different week but the same old story, I’m running out of things to say without repeating myself, just let me know when they are relegated
  • As for Stoke they are up to 8th and are one of half a dozen teams that are competing for a Europa League place come the end of the season. Can they now kick on during this final third
  • West Ham vs Sunderland was an awful watch if you had the misfortune of watching all 90 Minutes. Not a happy return to Upton Park for Sam Allardyce, but the situation doesn’t really change at the bottom so it’s as you were
  • As for The Hammers they are flying high in 5th for at least 24 hours, they’ll be hoping their cross city rivals Arsenal can do them favour at Old Trafford this Afternoon. While Spurs and Leicester will be hoping for the opposite
  • Watford vs Bournemouth – they could still be playing and not score.
