- 1-0 to the Leicester. It all seems a bit too familiar as of late
- A 4th result of that kind in a row and their 5th in 6 matches
- The win today at the King Power stadium sees them take another massive step towards winning the Premier League title
- Not the greatest of games in all fairness but the final whistle from Michael Oliver would have bought a huge sense of relief to Leicester fans watching
- Again at this stage of the season it’s all about points and not performances and Leicester are doing what is necessary as they move closer to the finishing line
- The main issue of the first half would have no doubt been whether Danny Simpson committed a handball offence from Sadio Mane’s shot
- His error let Mane in and the whole Leicester held it’s breath as Simpson managed to get back and divert the shot away with what seemingly looked like an arm
- Referee Oliver felt it was ball to hand and didn’t give a Penalty, in fairness the Southampton players didn’t make much of a case for it either which probably helped Simpsons cause
- On another day that is a Red Card for Simpson and a Penalty to Southampton
- Soon after Leicester got exactly what they needed and that was a goal. This time around it was from a less usual source as Wes Morgan headed home Christian Fuchs cross
- Delight for Leicester and Claudio Ranieri as the champions elect got their noses in front
- Ahead at the break now could The Foxes hold out for the next 45 minutes
- They started the second half brightly with Jamie Vardy dispossesing Victor Wanayama who then in turn hauled down the England International
- Michael Oliver showed Wanayama some leniency and spared the Southampton Midfielder a 4th Red Card of the season
- Jamie Vardy’s club goal drought continues but thankfully for Leicester it doesn’t seem to be too much of a crisis due to the fact that goals are being scored from all positions
- Vardy nearly turned supplier again for Danny Simpson but his effort was kept out by Fraser Forster
- Southampton rarely threatened as a resolute back line saw a 4th straight clean sheet for Leicester
- Defeat for Ronald Koeman’s side has hampered their chances of snatching that final Europa League place
- The last few minutes were certainly getting nervy but Leicester certainly don’t look like cracking anytime soon
- 5 minutes of injury time certainly didn’t help the nerves but it didn’t matter once full time was signaled as the result and subsequent 7 point advantage over Spurs meant that celebrations were turned up another notch
- It really is there’s to lose now. By this time next week they could be 10 points clear with Tottenham still to face Manchester United at White Hart Lane
- The job isn’t quite done yet but with only 4 more wins needed from their last 6 matches it’s going to take an absolutely monumental slump for them not to win the title
- In fairness though it’s been nothing short of what they deserved, they’ve been without question the best team in the league this season
- I think now there is a realisation from Tottenham fans that the race is run and the fairytale for Leicester is about to come true
