Dimitri Payet has been named in West Ham’s squad after two months out with an ankle injury.
Aaron Cresswell faces a fitness test on his hamstring, while Nikica Jelavic, Winston Reid and Victor Moses are all back in training but not ready to play.
Liverpool have injury-prone striker Daniel Sturridge available following a recent hamstring problem.
Jordan Henderson suffered a setback on his return in midweek, while James Milner and Divock Origi are again out.
Editor’s Note: West Ham secured their first win in 8 matches on Monday with victory against Southampton and will be boosted by the likely return of their mecurial Midfielder Dimitri Payet. Mondays win was their first since his absence through injury.
It wasn’t the prettiest but Slaven Bilic will be glad that his West Ham side have managed to arrest the slump in form that said although they weren’t winning matches they weren’t losing them either with their previous 5 games ending in draws. Bilic will be looking to continue this unbeaten run and have a repeat of their win at Anfield when the two sides met earlier in the season.
They go up against a Liverpool side who have got a maximum 6 points from the festive period and will be looking to add a win at Upton Park to victories over Leicester and Sunderland this Xmas.
Jurgen Klopp’s side had to rely on a goal from Christian Benteke to secure all 3 points on Wednesday and Benteke will look set to start again but The Reds will be boosted by the fact that Daniel Sturridge could also feature at some point today.
It’s 8th playing host to 7th this afternoon as both sides will look for a win to boost their European aspirations. I think Liverpool will just edge this one but a lot could depend on how much affect Dimitri Payet can have after his return from injury. A close away win for me.
