Mexico passed their first test as holders of the UFWC title with a win over fellow CONCACAF rivals Jamaica in this Copa America Centenario Group B encounter
The holders were fresh off of beating Uruguay last weekend to become unofficial world champions and they subsequently breezed past the challenge of Jamaica
Javier Hernandez was on the scoresheet for Mexico for the 45th time in his career now leaving him just one short of the record held by Jared Borgetti
Mexico scored their goals in the 18th and 81st minutes. Chicharito’s opener was a brilliant header from a Jesus Corona cross that gave keeper Andre Blake no chance, and Oribe Peralta made it two nil with a low shot inside the far post.
The next Next title match will be Mexico vs Venezuela. Both teams have qualified for the Quarters so whoever comes out of that game as holders will then have to face three title matches in the knockouts if they are to do the UFWC/Copa America Double
