Unofficial Football World Championship – Brazil 2 Uruguay 2

Brazil threw away the chance to take back the UFWC Crown for a second time in less than a year as Uruguay thought back from 2-0 down to earn a point last night in their South American World Cup Qualifier but more importantly keep hold of their title in their first Defence.

Neymar and Luis Suarez made a bet pre match that the loser would have to by the other one a Hamburger but they’ll be paying for their own as it was honours even.

Brazil were looking very comfortable after taking a 2-0 lead. Douglas Costa got them off to a dream start with a goal in the first minute while Renato Augusto then doubled the Selecao’s advantage. But Uruguay started their comback just before half time when Edinson Cavani halved the lead and who else but the returning Luis Suarez managed to get the vital equaliser.

The draw sees Uruguay sit 2nd place in the group against the surprise unbeaten leaders Ecuador while Brazil sit in 3rd place on the same points as Paraguay in 4th and Argentina in 5th who are currently sitting in the Intercontinental Play-Off position. Argentina got a much needed win against Chile the night before to kick start their qualifying campaign.

The erratic David Luiz was true to form last night as he had a particular poor game with Goalkeeper Alisson coming in for criticism after his error lead to the returning Luis Suarez to pounce on his mistake for the equaliser.

Brazil will definitely look at this one as two points dropped as it seems as if individual errors have cost them last night. Their next fixture is just around the corner as they will look to redeem themselves with a trip to Paraguay while more importantly UFWC holders Uruguay now have a title defense against Peru
