UEFA confirm decision to have Goalline Technology at EURO 2016

As posted last month UEFA were in discussion to bring in Goalline Technology for EURO 2016 this Summer

(Original article here http://realfootballman.com/2015/12/12/euro-2016-uefa-considers-using-goalline-technology-in-france/ )  and today they have announced the decision to go ahead with the idea.

Successful adoption by European leagues, plus instances of goals being wrongly disallowed at recent major tournaments, are believed to have swung the decision in favour of technology.

The provider is still to be determined but I would imagine it would either be Hawkeye that is used in the Premier League or the German Based Goal Control System which was used at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

A rare sensible decision by UEFA and that one that takes away the jeopardy of whether a ball has crossed the line or not.
