Tottenham vs Norwich – Match Preview

Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason is available to face Norwich after a four-week absence with an ankle injury.

Danny Rose has overcome the illness that ruled him out last week but Clinton N’Jie will be sidelined for up to three months following knee surgery.

Norwich defender Andre Wisdom remains a doubt because of the hamstring strain that caused him to miss the win at Manchester United.

Matt Jarvis is not yet ready to return from a knee injury.

Editor’s Note: Tottenham came out of their mini slump in the best possible way last weekend with their first win in 4 league matches at Southampton and this enabled them to move into the coveted Top 4 position for Xmas. Now that they have got their they now have to do the hard work and make sure they stay there.

They play host to a Norwich side who will be buoyant with confidence after going to Old Trafford last week and beating Manchester United 2-1 and will be looking to pull off another upset on the travels this afternoon.

The key issue for Spurs over this busy Xmas period is going to be squad management especially in terms of the Midfield and Attacking players. With Harry Kane being the only recognised forward can he play 3 games in a week, the answer is probably not but the situation hasn’t been helped by a long term injury to Cameroon Forward Clinton N’Jie

Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping that Tottenham can get their noses in front early and control the game to allow himself to make substitutions to key men and give them the rest time they require but as we’ve seen with the unpredictable nature in the Premier League this season that is easier said than done.

Spurs do tend to struggle at home to Norwich with their only being 1 win in their last 3 White Hart Lane encounters so they will be looking to get the better of their apparent bogey team and look to solidify that Top 4 league position.

The question for Norwich is can lightning strike twice in the space of the week?. They fully deserved their win over Manchester United last weekend but how much was that due to United being rank average. Tottenham should hopefully provide a sterner test this afternoon but you can’t discount The Canaries

Unfortunately for Norwich I don’t think Tottenham are going to give them any late Xmas Gifts at White Hart Lane and it should be a home win….should be a home win, this is Spurs we’re talking about after all.
