Swansea vs Sunderland – Match Preview

Swansea interim manager Alan Curtis is likely to revert to a more familiar starting XI after rotating his squad for the FA Cup last weekend.

That should mean recalls for the likes of Ashley Williams, Lukasz Fabianski, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Andre Ayew.

Sunderland captain John O’Shea faces a fitness test after being taken off at the weekend with a sore calf.

The Black Cats could give a debut to defender Jan Kirchhoff, who signed from Bayern Munich last week.

Editor’s Note: Swansea play host to Sunderland tonight in what is in respect most probably a relegation 6 pointer. A win for Swansea and they can get a bit of distance between themselves and the drop zone but a win for Sunderland and Swansea will be dragged deeper into the dog fight. Swansea were victims of the biggest Cup Giantkilling on Sunday and have also just lost Jonjo Shelvey to relegation rivals Newcastle, it hasn’t been the best weeks for the South Wales Club.

It certainly hasn’t been the ideal start for Alan Curtis since his change of job title from Caretaker to Interim Manager out of the Cup and a key player off the books I’m sure he hadn’t planned for things to start like this but they can aim to put things right with the visit of fellow strugglers Sunderland this evening.

Last time out in the League Swansea lost to Manchester United but if it wasn’t for the width of a post then Lukasz Fabianski would have headed a dramatic equaliser, unfortunately it wasn’t to be and they came away from Old Trafford empty handed.

Tonight they face a Sunderland side who beat lowly Aston Villa last time out in the league, so it goes from one crucial relegation battle to another for Sam Allardyce’s Men. On Saturday they went ahead against League Leaders and Cup Holders Arsenal but once they game got away from them Allardyce wisely made substitutions for the Swansea clash. Allardyce went on record last week and bemoaned the fact there was a Premier League game in Midweek straight after the Cup. Well everyone is in the same boat so we’ll see Tonight how Allardyce makes the most out of this situation.

I have a feeling Tonight will be a draw, it will be a side that neither team will want to lose and therefore I can see them cancelling each other out. I also think it could be the coveted last on Match Of The Day tonight. Honours even for me
