Real Madrid vs Real Betis in less than 3 minutes

It’s once again advantage Real Madrid as Zinedine Zidane’s side have reached the summit of La Liga after fully benefitting from Barcelona’s defeat to Deportivo La Coruna.

But Real Madrid were certainly made to work for all three points as they edged past Real Betis at The Bernabeu on Sunday.

It was a day to forget for Real Madrid keeper Kaylor Navas as he was responsible for Real Betis taking the lead and silencing the home fans.

The Costa Rican international had escaped a red card for fouling Darko Brasanac, but his day would get worse when then spilled Antonio Sanabria’s shot into his own net.

One nil to Real Betis and were we looking at a duo of upsets for La Liga’s top two, well Real Madrid obviously had other ideas as who else but Cristiano Ronaldo scored just before the break to make sure the two sides would end the first half level.

The home side surged forward in search of the all important strike that would put them ahead and the turning point of the game was arguably when Real Betis were reduced to 10 men with just under 15 minutes to go.

Matteo Piccinini was sent off for dragging back Lucas Vazquez on 78 with the question now being whether or not Betis could hold on and earn a hard fought draw, the problem was that Los Blancos could smell blood.

And they would go on to break Betis hearts just a few minutes later. Toni Kroos sent in a corner with 9 minutes remaining and as is so often the case, Sergio Ramos was on hand to power a header home to give the Madrid side the all important win.

Next up they will await the Champions League draw as their defence of the title continues but they could very well be looking at a double trophy haul if this current form continues.
