Zinedine Zidane will no doubt be thanking Gareth Bale after Saturday’s Madrid Derby between Rayo Vallecano and Real. The lesser of the Madrid based sides had taken a shock 2-0 lead in front of their own fans, not forgetting this is a side that was hit for 10 in the reverse earlier in the season.
But with Real’s title hopes almost evaporating, Gareth Bale was on hand to lead the fightback. First he made it 2-1 to give Real a glimmer hope and after Vazquez equalised it seemed as if Los Blancos had rescued a point, but Bale had other ideas. His 83rd minute winner was enough to break Rayo hearts and keep Real in the title race. They again find themselves in 3rd and will look to pounce on any slip us by either Barcelona and Atletico with just 3 games left to play.
