Atletico Madrid returned to winnings ways and subsequently moved back into the Champions League places yesterday with a comfortable 3-0 win over Osasuna.
Osasuna did have the perfect opportunity to go ahead when they were awarded a penalty but Jan Oblak was once again the hero as he kept out Roberto Torres’ effort.
That would be as good as it got for the home side as two goals in the space of a minute all but wrapped things up for Atleti. First a trademark Diego Godin put Atletico ahead and then Kevin Gamiero doubled their advantage straight after.
With the game all but won Yann Carrasco would seal matters with an injury time strike to make it 3-0 and complete the convincing win.
With Real Sociedad in decent form Diego Simeone’s side needed a win and would have been grateful that they couldn’t beat Barcelona last night after having to make do with a point. The win sees Atletico 4th but now 9 points off of cross town rivals Real.
